My Watch Isn't Picking Up All My Shots, What Should I Do?
Your Shot Scope watch improves its ability to track your shots the more you play. It typically takes 3-4 rounds for the watch to fully adjust to your swing and game. If, after playing 3-4 rounds, the watch still isn’t performing as expected, please follow the suggestions below to troubleshoot potential issues.
1. Ensure the Tags are Securely Inserted
Make sure all the tags are securely inserted into each club. Loose or incorrectly inserted tags can prevent the watch from detecting your shots.
2. Take Practice Swings
The watch goes into ‘sleep’ mode between shots to save battery. If you don’t take a practice swing before hitting the ball, the watch may not register the shot because it’s still in ‘sleep’ mode. We recommend taking at least one practice swing (ideally two) before each shot. However, if you're not comfortable with that, here are some alternatives to consider:
- Hold the golf club in your left hand while waiting to play your shot.
- Keep the golf club in a still position in your left hand.
- Perform a small, chipping motion with the club in your left hand before hitting the shot.
- Do a gentle waggle before each shot.
3. Check Your Hand Settings
Ensure the correct hand setting is selected on the watch. If you're a right-handed player, the watch should be set to right-hand swing and worn on your left wrist. If you're left-handed, adjust the settings accordingly.
4. Wear the Watch Close to the Bottom of Your Wrist
Wear the watch as close to the bottom of your wrist as possible. Wearing it too high up your arm may place the tags too far from the watch, preventing it from detecting shots.
5. Avoid Wearing Other Smartwatches or Metal Accessories
Don’t wear any other smartwatches (such as an Apple Watch or Fitbit) or iON/magnetic straps on either wrist. Also, avoid wearing metal jewelry, as this can interfere with the watch’s ability to pick up shots.
6. Adjust Your Grip When Gripping Down
If you often grip down on the club, the tags might be too far from the watch, causing missed shots. If this is a frequent part of your game, try taking one or two practice swings gripping the club at the top of the grip to help the watch detect your shots more effectively.
7. Position the Watch Correctly
Wear the watch with the face on the outside of your arm, and make sure the screen is facing upwards. The tag-detecting technology is in the strap, so it’s essential that the strap is positioned on the inside of your arm and as close to the tag as possible.
8. Be Aware of Counterbalance Putters
If you use a counterbalance putter, it may affect the watch’s ability to pick up putting data due to the extra metal in the grip. To resolve this:
- Use manual putting mode.
- Use PinCollect on the course and edit the location of your putts in editing after the round.

I would like to know if there is a way to check that my tags are recording properly? I haven’t figured it out yet, I know some tags are not recording, is there a way to check without playing and moving across the course?
My watch started out great. I updated my course when you remapped it.After that it only picked up the tags part of the time. I just finished a round and it didn't pick up and track a single shot.
